We started by expanding upon Gin's idea of having a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory style of tea being made. We Wanted to make it as fun as possible so we discussed how the tea would be put together, as in, we each put forth ideas towards what would be the funniest idea of how something would work. An example would be having golfers hit coffee beans against walls to make them into granules. This isn't something that made it into the final cut but it helped in the brainstorming process we had. From this Gin made the script, from the script we each had characters to create, I had a few one off characters, in the miner, farmer, hot water catcher, and the milk guy.We also each had at least two scenes to storyboard as well. I had the scenes of the waitress taking the order into the back and the hot water catcher doing his job. We are each going to talk about our own pieces during our pitch, that way we all get a chance to talk. This will help us explain our ideas within the group and hopefully improve upon our ability to sell our work in a pitch.
The idea itself I quite like it's a fun simple concept that anyone can enjoy. Obviously it's more geared towards a younger audience but in such a way that it's not limited to them. I really do enjoy the fantastic ideas that we came up with, especially some of the ideas that didn't make the cut but that's part of the process. We came up with better ideas and so we scrapped the ones that were a bit too much for what we were doing. This led to us streamlining parts and having a bit more fun with others, e.g adding in the Oliver Twist like character to run around all the 'stations' to get the ingredients.
We spent time discussing what camera angles for what scenes but we also allowed some leeway for when we were on our own working on our individual scenes, in case we thought something might look a bit better one way over another. This allows a bit more freedom and diversity in how something will turn out and hopefully have a bit more personality to it.
In conclusion we probably could have met up a couple more times to make the process smoother. In fairness I wasn't well on one occasion when we attempted to meet up and that is my fault we did rearrange and meet up at a later date, so we managed to overcome that minor setback.
